Just been to see Hansel and Gretel by Humperdinck at Glyndebourne. I was delighted to see so many young children in the audience! Normally you wouldn't expect to see young kids at an opera; with the foreign languages and constant singing most would find it, well, boring! But tonight was perfect for younger audiences, not only was it a story about two young children, portrayed beautifully by the two ladies who played H & G, but the whole performance had a slight pantomime feel to it - especially with the 'drag' witch! And to top it off, the orchestra were phenomenal! Perfect night out! :)
Back on track with another recording to add to our ClassTiche collection, watch this space next week for the YouTube link!
On our way to the first night of "The Last Five Years" really excited to be working with such wonderful actors/musicians :)
Rehearsing our next piece for our ClassTiche project, "what does the fox say" (or in this case, violin!) by Ylvis. This has been one of our most challenging arrangements so far, at one point we've tried to spilt fit 5 important parts between just the 2 of us! Things are going well so far... :)
On our way back from the dress rehearsal for The Last Five Years. Having played in a Baroque orchestra for the last 3 weeks it was a challenge to switch hats and sight read show music! It just goes to show how diverse the life of a musician can be sometimes and, personally, I wouldn't want it any other way :)
Finally! After numerous technical difficulties our Halloween special of Michael Jackson's Thriller is finally up on YouTube! A little late, but hope you enjoy none the less! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=c4-feed-u&v=YCqjQfllD34
