We don't often get to work alongside other musicians but it was a pleasure to work with Organist extraordinaire Stephen Wyman who the Bride and Groom had asked to play while guests arrived and for the hymns. We played one of our favourites and one of our most popular pieces for the entrance of the Bride and Bridal party, Pachelbel's Canon in D and after some beautiful readings and traditional vows we kicked off the signing of the register with some special new song requests from the Bride and Groom, Whatever by Oasis, One Day Like This by Elbow and finishing off with an old favourite, Marry You by Bruno Mars. After a short but heartfelt blessing from Revered Caroline Currer we played the happy couple out of the Church to All You Need is Love by the Beatles.
Despite being distracted by the wedding car (a beautifully decorated VW Camper! which I think is a brilliant idea) we managed to make our way to the reception venue just a short hop away at the Old Pangdean Barns, a lovely little venue we haven't visited before conveniently located just off the A23. Set on the edge of the south downs with lush gardens and with beautifully renovated vintage feel buildings this is a great venue for any wedding. Playing outside in the garden we enjoyed some of their non-alcoholic fruit punch while we played a selection of our pop song covers for violin and cello.
The Bride and Groom loved our music and said that it really helped to 'make the day'! We're just glad that we had the opportunity to play in two of the loveliest venues we have ever visited!
