The Wedding we played for yesterday was a testament to good contingency planning and the fact that bad weather doesn't have to ruin your Wedding Day. When we got up yesterday morning our hearts sank, it was raining cats and dogs and we couldn't see any hope of it clearing up in time for the Wedding we were playing for at Cleatham Hall.
When we arrived the guests were enjoying themselves as we made our way through the entrance hall which had been decorated with a lovely blue and white colour theme using hessian cloth to give a rustic, countryside feel. Despite the awful weather the guests and bridal party seemed to be in high spirits and the Wedding planner Julie Johnson had managed to create a wonderful cosy and homely atmosphere. The Bride had decided not to have any music while the guests arrived so that the first thing her guests heard was us playing our violin and cello cover of A Thousand Years by Christina Perri as she and the bridal party walked down the aisle. I think this wedding was a record for us in that there were ELEVEN bridesmaids so we actually got to play quite a lot of the song before she got down the aisle! After a beautifully emotional reading of Dr Seuss' 'The Places You'll Go' we played Paradise by Coldplay for the singing of the register and played them out of the ceremony room to All You Need is Love by the Beatles.
For the ceremony the rain actually enhanced the atmosphere, being quite a small room it really did feel very cosy and intimate.
We then moved out to the entrance hall where the guests were served champagne and some delicious looking warm canapes while we played some of our more lively violin and cello pop song covers. Despite the rain they managed to get a few photos outside (they had a good supply of wedding themed umbrellas which actually looked quite stylish!) and again it just made the party inside that little bit more cosy!
So, it just goes to show that even in the worst weather possible what really matters is the love of the happy couple and support of friends and family, although I have to say I think that good food, drink and music as well as a brilliant Wedding planner like Julie does help!
Congratulations guys!
