A Sunny Wedding at Gildredge Manor, Eastbourne

We were very lucky on Saturday, despite horrible weather and thunderstorms in Brighton we drove across to Eastbourne to find clear-blue sky and sunshine. The beautiful venue of Gildredge Manor definitely made the most of this with their gorgeous ground and stylish gardens. The guests made the most of the sun standing outside with drinks before the ceremony began and listening to the sound of the violin and cello drifting out of the window of the ceremony room. As an old country house they didn't really have much decorating to but just highlighted the rugged beauty of the room with a small posy on the end of each aisle.

We played some upbeat pop covers while guests arrived in the ceremony room as the Bride had wanted the atmosphere to be happy and lively. We played the Bridal party down the aisle to a special song request, Mr Brightside by the Killers which sounded lovely on the violin and cello. They had four readings which were all taken form song lyrics which we thought was a wonderful idea and added a really special touch to the proceedings. During the signing of the register we played I'm Yours by Jason Mraz, Rather Be by Clean Bandit and All of Me by John Legend to the delight of the guests. We played the happy couple out to one of our favourites, Happy by Pharrell Williams. One of the guests said she 'didn't know you could play that kind of music on the violin and cello!'.

The couple had chosen a great selection of music for the drinks reception including 7 Years - Lukas Graham, Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol, Earned It - The Weekend, Kissing You from romeo and Julliet - Des'ree, Marry You - Bruno Mars, Royals - Lorde, Rude - MAGIC!
Grow Old With Me - Tom Odell, Hello - Adele, To Love Somebody - The Beegees, L.O.V.E. - Nat King Cole and Ho Hey - The Lumineers. We had some lovely comments from the guests and all in all it was a very enjoyable day.

Congratulations guys!

A simple wedding at Southend Barns

We had a wonderful time playing at a wedding at the beautiful venue Southend Barns near Chichester on Friday. It was quite refreshing that they had opted for quite a simple wedding, they didn't have any complicated decorations and just let the beauty of the venue speak for itself.
While guests arrived in the ceremony room we played Schuberts Ave Maria, A Thousand Years by Christina Perri and All of Me by John Legend. She walked down the aisle to the modern tradition that is Pachelbel's Canon in D and there wasn't a dry eye in the house. After some heartfelt readings and beautiful vows we played them their special request which was Elvis' Can't Help Falling in Love followed by wedding favourites How Long Will I Love You by Ellie Goulding and Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran. Finally at the end of the ceremony we played them out to the Madness classic It Must Be Love, wonderful.
After a quick change around to move outside we kickstarted their drinks reception with I'm Yours by Jason Mraz. Again with the simple theme, they had opted for pimms on the lawn with orange juice and some superb still cloudy lemonade for the children (and the working musicians). We played for around an hour while they took photos and chatted, stopping just before they were called in for dinner. The bride and bridegroom had asked for some great songs so we had fun bringing out some of our favourites such as Let It Go from Frozen, Happy by Pharrell Williams, Rude by Magic! and Pompeii by Bastille.
We had some lovely comments on the day about the beautiful sound the violin and cello can make together. One woman in particular was quite impressed by the depth and fullness of the sound we manage to create. We had a great day and it's always nice to see people's feet tapping and faces light up when they realise just how unique our versions of modern pop songs for the violin and cello are.
Congratulations guys!

Back at the Grand Hotel, Brighton

We had the pleasure of revisiting the Grand Hotel in Brighton today to celebrate the marriage of Dazari and Keith.

The venue, as always, was a delight to play in, with the high ceiling and great acoustics it complimented the combined sound of the violin and cello very well.

We played the traditional Bridal March and Wedding March, which you don't hear much now-a-days, but it worked wonderfully in the ceremony. For the drinks reception we "let our hair down" a bit with some great pop songs including I'm Yours by Jason Mraz, How Long Will I Love You by Ellie Goulding, 7 Years by Lukas Graham and many more!

We had so many lovely comments from the friends and family of the newly weds and we were able to congratulate the happy couple briefly before they started their wedding breakfast.

Again, many congratulations to you both!
